Sisters of Invention is a Swedish duo consisting of  Malin and Karolina Almgren.
At a very early age the sisters started to make music together, the band has now existed for more than 15 years.
Both sisters work as freelance musicians and composers.

Their music can be described as colorful and groovy as well as poetic and vulnerable. New and full of personality. You can sense a natural musicality in this duo, they put their totally unique touch on everything they create. They focus on strong melodies and rhythms, and as a listener you can prepare yourself to be amazed by the variety of sounds and styles you will find in this duo. The music is modern and fresh, but in no way overcomplicated. The name Sisters of Invention describes the band perfectly as they constantly invent new ways to work with music.

The duo has played at a great number of big venues and festivals in Sweden and in Europe. In 2016 they won the prize Best group at Euro Radio Jazz Competition in Amsterdam, and 2017  "group of the year" by SR (Swedish Radio) P2:s Jazzkatten. They have recorded four CD:s under the label Oh Yeah Records, "Om & Om Igen” (2013), ”Navigating” (2015), "SOL" (2018) and "Nostalgia" (2020). Their latest album, a collaboration with their father Owe Almgren, was released in 2021. "Owe Almgren & Sisters of Invention Does The Beatles Nordic Noir", an album with interpretations where the musicians aimed to capture an atmosphere of a more melancholic character.

Trough the years Sisters of Invention have worked and collaborated with numerous Swedish musicians, to mention a few: Nils Landgren, Rigmor Gustafsson, Ida Sand, Jonas Kullhammar and Jacob Karlzon.
They have led various projects like Dubbelduon and composed music for both big band, jazz ensembles and duos.
